What Is an Implant-Retained Denture?

All-on-Four dental implants for an Implant-Retained Denture
When you lose teeth, your bite, chewing ability, and overall oral health can be affected. Implant-retained dentures replace missing teeth, support your jawbone, and restore your smile.
Many patients struggle with lower dentures. Implant-supported options ensure stability and comfort for those missing all lower teeth.
Do You Experience Denture Instability?
- Are your dentures uncomfortable and loose?
- Do they slip when you laugh or talk?
- Do you wish you could bite into an apple or enjoy a steak?
The issue isn’t with the dentures themselves, but with natural changes in your mouth over time. As we age, jawbone shrinkage can make even the best-fitted dentures difficult to keep securely in place.

Implant-Supported Denture Options for Missing Lower Teeth
1. Ball Attachment Denture
Two implants are placed in the lower jaw, and the denture snaps onto them. Provides more stability than traditional dentures, though slight movement can occur. Periodic adjustments are required.
2. Bar Attachment Denture
Four to six implants are placed, connected with a support bar. The denture clips onto the bar, offering minimal movement and easy removal for cleaning.
3. Screw-Retained Denture
Five or more implants hold a permanent denture in place. Dentures don’t touch gums, allowing easy cleaning underneath. Only removed for maintenance visits.
Implant-Supported Denture Options for Missing Upper Teeth
Similar implant-retained options are available for the upper jaw. More implants may be needed due to softer bone, and sometimes the roof of the mouth can remain uncovered for a more natural feel.
