ARESTIN® Treatment for Gum Disease in Morton Grove
What Is ARESTIN® Antibiotic?
ARESTIN® is a locally applied antibiotic used to help treat gum disease (periodontitis). At ProCare Family Dental, ARESTIN® is placed directly into infected gum pockets after scaling and root planing to target harmful bacteria at the source.

Unlike oral antibiotics, ARESTIN® works directly at the infection site and helps eliminate bacteria that may remain after deep cleaning alone, promoting healthier gums and improved healing.

Why do I need Arestin Antibiotics for Gum Disease?
ARESTIN® contains the antibiotic minocycline, released gradually into the infected pocket to combat disease-causing bacteria after your dental visit. It helps reduce gum pocket depth and bleeding in treated areas. Arestin dissolves within 30 days, providing continued treatment for up to 90 days. It is a tetracycline derivative and is not recommended for children or pregnant/nursing women. Additionally, it should not be used by individuals allergic to minocycline, doxycycline, or tetracycline.
ARESTIN® starts working quickly, right at the source of infection, and keeps fighting bacteria long after you leave the dental office. 1,2
